Course Objectives Introduce theoretical and practical issues of nuclear medicine in the framework of an internship program
Course Content In the scope of this clerkship; lectures and practical activities are given about radiation, biological effects of radiation, protection from radiation, management of radiation accidents and nuclear medicine applications in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
Learning Outcomes (LO) LO1. can able to select appropriate test among existing laboratory tests according to the patient/disease status in addition to physical examination LO2. Learn useful methods for the follow-up of patient LO3. Knowledge about nuclear medicine tests which are useful in emergency conditions LO4. Knowledge about advantage and disadvantage of nuclear medicine tests and alternative imaging procedures. LO5. To have knowledge about radiation in human life, uses of radiation for peaceful purposes, biological effects of radiation and radiation protection. LO6. To have knowledge about acute radiation syndrome, determination of radiation injury, and medical response and assistance to radiation accident victims.
