Prerequisites To have knowledge of medical microbiology and parasitology.

Course Objectives To provide information on infectious diseases, etiology, epidemiology, pathophysiology, clinical findings, laboratory data, treatments and indications of antimicrobial chemotherapeutics.
Course Content Learning to approach the infectious disease patients and acquisition of information about tratment of these patients and indications of antimicrobial chemotherapeutics.
Learning Outcomes (LO) 1- Defines general properties of infectious diseases. 2- Uses appropriate labaratory tests in the differential diagnosis of infectious diseases. 3- Sorts the ways of protection from infectious diseases. 4- Uses antimicrobial chemotherapeutic in appropriate indications in the treatment of infectious diseases. 5- Knows the importance of infectious diseases that require immediate intervention. 6- Knows the importance of scientific and ethical values while he is approaching to the patient.

Week Theoretical: General properties of infectious diseases,Principles of treatment of infectious diseases, Upper respiratory tract infections Practical: Review of microbiology in the laboratory tests (3 hours) Theoretical: Infectious mononucleosis, Rubella, Measles Practical: Examination of stained preparations of microorganisms in the laboratory of microbiology. (3 hours) Theoretical:Cholera, Dysentery Interactive: Approach to the febrile patient Theoretical: Food poisoning, Salmonella infections Interactive: Approach to the central nervous system infections Theoretical: Viral hepatitis (2 hours) Theoretical: Antimicrobial chemotherapy (3 hours), Brucellosis
