Course Objectives Students are given the properties, basic grammar and its rules of the Turkish language. Moreover, exercises are made to teach reading comprehension, writing and speaking skills
Course Content Developing awareness in the Turkish language; emphasizing the importance of the relationship between language and thought, productivity in scientific and technological fields, improving the relation of language and thought to be creative
Learning Outcomes (LO) The students who attended the course and were successful at the end of semester will acquire the followings; LO1 – to read, understand explain the nature and properties of the Turkish language LO2 – to express oneself

1. Week Features of expression: Oral communication, Written Expression
2. Week Creation of text
3. Week Main features of written language of written communication; basic distinctions between written language and spoken language
4. Week Expression Types: Oral Communication Types
5. Week Expression: written and oral expression; subjective and objective expressions
6. Week Presentation (briefing), conference, seminar
7. Week Definition of text and types of texts (informative texts, written texts)
8. Week Mid-term Exam
9. Week Symposium-Talk-Interview-Discussion- Debate
10. Week Steps of planned composition (topic, limiting the topic, aim, perspective, specification of main and supporting ideas, preparation of outline, paper layout)
11. Week Informative texts (petition, report, protocol, letter, news, judgement, advertisement, official writing, scientific writing)
12. Week Examination and written practice on informative texts
13. Week Summary and outline of a text
14. Week Correcting language and expression mistakes in written practices
