Course Objectives |
The aim of the course is to introduce the approaches, methods and techniques resulting in the historical development
to the teacher candidates and to highlight current approaches, methods and techniques. |
Course Content |
English Language Teaching (ELT) course design, appropriate approaches for different requirements of students such
as English as a second / foreign / international / for special purposes / academic language, current practices such as
constructivist approach, content-oriented, task-oriented, problem-oriented, corpus-driven approach, multiple
intelligences and integrative language teaching, importance of culture in second / foreign language teaching, use of
technology in language classes, importance of communication and intercultural communication in the developing
world.

Learning Outcomes (LO) |
The students who attended the course and were successful at the end of semester will acquire the followings;
LO1 – to know the course design in English Language Teaching
LO2 - to examine approaches appropriate for different needs of students such as English as a second / foreign /
international / for special purposes / academic language
LO3 – to know and apply current approaches such as constructivist approach, content-oriented, task-oriented,
problem-oriented, corpus-driven approach, multiple intelligences and integrative language teaching |
