Course Objectives The aim of the course is to introduce the approaches, methods and techniques resulting in the historical development to the teacher candidates and to highlight current approaches, methods and techniques.
Course Content English Language Teaching (ELT) course design, appropriate approaches for different requirements of students such as English as a second / foreign / international / for special purposes / academic language, current practices such as constructivist approach, content-oriented, task-oriented, problem-oriented, corpus-driven approach, multiple intelligences and integrative language teaching, importance of culture in second / foreign language teaching, use of technology in language classes, importance of communication and intercultural communication in the developing world.
Learning Outcomes (LO) The students who attended the course and were successful at the end of semester will acquire the followings; LO1 – to know the course design in English Language Teaching LO2 - to examine approaches appropriate for different needs of students such as English as a second / foreign / international / for special purposes / academic language LO3 – to know and apply current approaches such as constructivist approach, content-oriented, task-oriented, problem-oriented, corpus-driven approach, multiple intelligences and integrative language teaching
