Course Objectives The primary goal is to increase their advanced listening and pronunciation skills. It is aimed that the various original listening texts and academic presentations will develop the listening skills of the students. Additionally, students will have the chance to develop the sub-skills of listening such as note taking, predicting, reaching certain and detailed information, inferring from the context, understanding the gist. The original materials taken from various areas such interviews, movies, songs, conferences, television programs and news which are an important part of the course will provide the students a detailed perspective on the different accents of the English language. Moreover, it is aimed that the students get familiar with the various accent of English around the world. Through the course pairs and groups will be used which are activities which focus on teamwork.
Course Content Taking notes, predict, reaching certain and detailed information, infer from the context, listening sub-skills such as understanding the gist; original listening materials taken from different areas which include various English speaking styles such as phonetic, interviews, movies, songs, conferences, television programs and news.
Learning Outcomes (LO) The students who attended the course and were successful at the end of semester will acquire the followings; LO1 – The students will obtain the ability to infer from the context and understand the gist LO2 - The students will have the skill to make use of original materials which include different English speaking styles which are IPA, interviews, movies, songs, conferences, television programs and news.
