Course Objectives This course focuses on the characteristics of Turkish and aims to provide students the rules and the basic knowledge about Turkish.
Course Content This course provides development in the awareness of Turkish and emphasizes the importance of language - thought relationship.
Learning Outcomes (LO) The students who attended the course and were successful at the end of semester will acquire the followings; 1- will be able to define the language concept, 2- will be able to have an idea about the languages in the world, 3- will be able to express themselves correctly, 4- will be able to prepare official documents, 5- will be able to have oral or written presentation.

1. Week Language, language – culture relationship and general information about the languages in the world
2. Week The meanings of the concepts of mother tongue and native language, and other concepts related to language.
3. Week Mother tongue, common language, dialect, subdialect, slang, special languages (professional languages, group languages) Colloquial language and Turkish pronunciation characteristics (Example description of some features related to the spoken language)
4. Week Literary language and rules of Turkish, emphasis, intonation and intonation of foreign words and melody in Turkish
5. Week Punctuation marks
6. Week Structural and semantic features of Turkish
7. Week The status of Turkish today, foreign words and abbreviations in Turkish and mistakes in language usage
8. Week Semantic, structural and translation mistakes
9. Week Text formation
10. Week Plan and paragraph formation
11. Week Expression types, verbal expression types
12. Week Solo verbal expression types
13. Week 13 Presentation (Informative), conference and seminar (Application)
