Course Objectives Aims to provide basic knowledge and skills on the concepts and applications of psychology disciplin to health area.
Course Content Course includes: General concepts of health psychology, Culture and health, Social environment and health, Health professional-patient relationship, Psychological factors at chronic diseases and cancer, Stress and coping, Individual health and risk behaviors, Psychology of smoking, alcohol consumption, diet behavior and exercise behavior for the promotion of health and prevention of illness.
Learning Outcomes (LO) LO 1- Student can recognize the general concepts of health psychology LO 2- Student can explain the relation of culture and health LO 3- Student can explain the social determinants of health LO 4- Student can recognize the different perspectives of patients and health professionals LO 5- Student can explain the psychological factors effecting the coping styles with chronic diseases and cancer LO 6- Student can explain stress and coping mechanisms LO 7- Student can recognize individual health and risk behaviors LO 8- Student can explain the importance of smoking, alcohol consumption, diet behavior and exercise behavior for the promotion of health and prevention of illness.
